Our Phony Recovery

The hype would have you think that the 288,000 jobs created last month were full-time.


Full-time jobs plunged by 523,000 in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Part-time jobs rose by about 800,000 to more than 28 million.

Fewer than half of U.S. adults are working full time.(see WSJournal)

“Make no mistake,” President Obama said. “We are headed in the right direction.”

  1. I love the still life of the orange. Very nice.

    I never just depend on a single statistic…what I learned with my first Master’s degree, sociology, is how easy it is to lie and distort with numbers. There’s a much bigger picture about working people.
